Taron wrote:You can create similar things with Verve, too, by the way. It's pretty easy and even faster than Sisley, I think.
However, it made me think about some interesting approaches for these "fakes", hehe. Maybe one day I'll try them out.

Oh yes, I think you could do wonders ! And a potential hit for mobile versions of Verve.

This program Sisley is good, these guys understood something for sure.
Limited to "artistic impressions" though, as Zen said.
Yet another example, again from 100x100 px thumbs of Google News :

Some more ? Okaaayyy :D

And by capturing the image just before the last refinement step, it's even better I think :

For me it could be used as an inspiration tool to go crazy with colors and daring rough strokes without refining too much.

I imagine a similar algorithm with Verve impastos or liquid ink ! c:!

Awesome tool.
Your idea taking small thumbs is ultra cool, GBo GBo. The priest looks sensational. Imagine all of us going crazy if someone would present this as his picture :D
Google or Yahoo or even shutterstock and other services search thumb pictures are a great source for billion thumbs. You won't have the rights for any of those for sure.

If you cut the pic in pieces, it even gets a little bit more focused as you can assign different algorithm to each part.

This one turned out quite nicely:

Some nice overwork and it could compete with this artist i.e.

It's a great base to work on top for sure - or leave it as it is.
Crazy thing.
So if you both think this should be possible with verve too, I am sure the output would be much, much better as verve is the better painting program ;)

Sketchbook.

Sketchbook is the free version of sketchbook pro.

https://www.sketchbook.com/?locale=en-US

The free version has some limitations but is already quite useable.
Pencil is looking amazingly real and has a super smooth look, so does the marker. Airbrush is very soft.
Brush is very interesting.
Blend, blur, smudge is better and faster than in most apps. (still much slower than verve)
Interface is quite nicely structured and mimimized.
Some more features of free version:

-Adjustable mirror line
-simple Text
saves in Tiff, psd, jpg, png, gif

And from website

Optimized pen-based workflow
16 Brushes
3 Layers
Symmetry
Ruler and ellipses
Quick transform

As far as I can see it has a fixed image size of: 1600x1118 with 100dpi.
Basicly develloped for product designers, it is used by quite a lot of painters too.

But beware! This is a step closer to the Autodesk monster. Together they are almost ruling the industry. Don't support them as long as you don't have to ;)
