Hey dear Ververs,

what are your favourite Freeware, OpenSource Programs (not only GFX)?

In Graphics
VERVE (it even top Krita) - KRITA (OpenSource, it runs very fine in Ubuntu) and APOPHYSIS (Freeware?)

Office/Internet
LibreOffice (why I should use Microsoft Office?)
Keepass V1.x and Keepass-X for Linux* (very good Safe vor passwords, I really know only my master-password,)
Firefox (the best Internetbrowser for me, I use ist since October 2004 - 10 Years!!!!! One of my first OpenSource Software in action)

POTPLAYER (Windows only) - better like VLC Player and PotPlayer is from the same Korean-Devolper of the KMplayer - but KMPLAYER is since some years full of adware

Games - I don't play Games since some years, but BZFLAG also for free, was very funny for me :ob

Some other Tools for Windows
7z / 7zip (Windows only) ... the best tool for zip, rar and other archive file formats
HDD Tune, checking HDDisks
Prime95 nice tool for checking CPU or RAM* Errors

Rescatux and/or Ultimate Boot CD (it include MEM86) - if you have serious Problems, e.g. booting - or RAM checking

OS
Linux Ubuntu & Lubuntu, Windows 7 I need only for Graphic-Tools    and Lubuntu works fine for my very old Laptop, IBM T30 :ob :ob - Ubuntu I use as dualboot with my PC ....

Hey, good topic, indeed!

Of course Verve right now :) And Gimp, VLC, Unity 3D, VirtualBox, XMplay, werkkzeug4..

I like to play games but donĀ“t have much free time and I cannot remember good free game. Maybe some logic games like gomoku, chess, parking cars..
But what I can recommend to play is: Dear Esther. it is not a typical game and it takes only about 2,5hrs to complete but its atmosphere will persist inside you for looong time..

And Alan Wake (PC version) for example.

Oh dear, don't start with games!!! :PP
There some stunning games out there F2P (free to play). I stumbled across warframe, tanki, stupid miniclip and that stuff...can eat up your time bitterly, but- dear me- it can be fun.
With great distance to everything else, my favorite free "toys" are Sculptris and Musagi. :D

One Freeware lost my trust in the last time, thats FILEZILLA - it includes spyware, even on sourceforge :PP ... but now I use FireFTP ... great Firefox Plugin for linux & windows (in one compatible firefox-profile).
Uh thunderbird is also great, I never used outlook or other software ... - also since 2005 or 2004 I use Thunderbird. :ob
