I have 3DCoat instead of Sculptris, but with 3Dcoat I see, that my PC (I7 2700k from 2011) is bit to old. But I keep my PC, until the Hardware will crash.

I understand you, that you didnt like blender a lot, because the UI was very weird, but after dezember 2007/january 2008 - I installed Blender again, its now much much better like 12 years ago  - but I'm not so happy about the making own shortcuts in blender, not so fine like in Silo or Moi or 3DCoat.

And by the way, with Loop-Tools-Addon in Blender you can even make a very fast Circle-Shape with your edges/faces, like it your Rocket ;)

The Weaker Sex

I have a folder I named The Follies on my desktop holding a few gigs of unfinished but promising projects. I have been going through different things I have done to add to my website. This is a black and white experiment I did trying for different looks I could use for stories, It was probably done about 10 years ago. When I saw it, a rather tongue in cheek scenario went through my head. Not particularly well written but I believe in the base message and it gave me a laugh while I was writing it :) It's so vague I can include it in Tales

Zero 3dCoat is a really good program also. I have an older 2011 version. Back then I used it for retop. Good buy :) The beauty is you can sculpt really well in your newer edition. I came close to upgrading but am too used to Z. I am also holding off on a computer rebuild. We should be getting some game changing motherboards soon and that will be cool.

Hair for Men

I needed a break before I finalize Meretsegar which is why I started going thru my Follies folder. While in it I ran up on a series of camera shots of me with hair, without hair that I took against a green screen to use as texture resources in Zbrush. I didn't really have any volunteers back then so I was my own test subject. After a couple of weeks of false starts I finally produced something I could use in Zbrush for a self portrait. This was in 2004-2005 Just using the front camera shot and Headshot I did this in about a minute, Face and Head structure are not dead on but it is close. Tech has definitely grown saving me days and days off the same goal.

When I took those reference photos I was in my 40s wondering what I would look like with a full head of hair again

Along the Way

On the edit I would say TMI but people deal with pain differently and this year has been particularly hard. I have had good friends give good advice but the past year still hangs heavily. The wakes helped. Writing helps express emotion when it cannot be contained and guides it to a more useful output. It becomes cathartic. I rewrote Along the Way to fit back into Dalton's timeline in Bridgeworld and make more sense but retain the format. Not as over the top as it was but it reads much better. For some reason the poem was reminding me of a famous poets work just not as well done. I did a search and all I found was a song from the 80s :?

Trying to become a self- published writer on Amazon is much more of a pain than I thought it would be. After much inquiry I am being told I need to rejoin Facebook which I left years ago. This to join a writer’s group for feedback on both content and marketing and also to find readers to critique the story. On another front, in order to get paid through Webtoons I am required to join Patreon. Patreon is like Kickstarter and as with everything else seems to be these days, is tied into Facebook. I can’t say with an honest face that I care for Facebooks’ and other companies’ intrusions and it boggles my mind that it is so pervasive. I accepted there would be intrusion from Amazon but not to be steered to Facebook.

There are other places to go with writer groups but not with the marketing potential Facebook wields. Tina makes a good case https://tinahogangrant.com/ffacebook-gr ... d-readers/. If I do this I will set up a separate email account to handle Facebook spam.

In the first 2 periods of Egypt dwarves were respected and viewed as wielders of great mystical power. They were so respected that their aspect made it into the Egyptian pantheon. In later periods they were mocked and discriminated against. Quite a few were skilled artisans and since Meretsegar was the protector of artisans there is great story potential here. But I have my hands full already. I just felt like sculpting as a release. I will admit it would be easier for me to start from a CC3 base character to get the results I am looking for, but I am in a sculpting mood.

I pulled this character not out of Zbrush but Sculptris instead (take a look at my link to the old Sculptris forum and my satyr to see the process I used.) I also used my wow toon Grumpy as a reference. I could have used the Pro version in Zbrush but it’s not a big deal to GoZ. I like the raw simpler feel in the older Sculptris better. Once I got it into Z I rebuilt the mesh. The actual sculpting here is only a third done and that’s not including clothes done in a similar fashion as his Egyptian dwarf beard.) I have so much more HD sculpting to do here on his back, hands, legs and feet especially, and I need to UV him. Zbrush produces decent results but not nearly as good as I can in UV pro. Headshot won’t work on this guy either. After the sculpting is done the plan is to use UV Pro to create an orderly UV map then export as object over to Mixamo to create a basic rig I can use in Iclone 7. From Iclone I can then export into Substance Painter for full texturing and then back to IC 7 for some testing. I wish I could do this with all my characters, but I don’t have the time.
