Re: Everyone, what Graphics Card are you using?

Im looking at buying a used pc laptop with decent graphics cards to run verve.
There is a Lenova gaming model Y500 a few years old...with " dual " cards in it ...Nvidia 650m X2 with 2 gb ram on each card.
Does anyone know if this would actually be of benefit in Verve. Would Verve use both cards?
I currently have a 650m on my macbook and it runs great up to limited size of about 2500x 1800 px
Wondering if this would be better.
Serious gaming laptops are about 2000 plus here in canada and I could pick one of these up for about 800.
I have no idea how these things work.
Thanks for any advice.
s

as an aside....I imagine it will be a loooong time before verve makes its way to an iPad or mac?
otherwise I will stick with my mac
Macbook Pro
2.6 intel core i7
8 gb ram
Nvidia 650m 1gb v ram

Re: Everyone, what Graphics Card are you using?

It will take some time before a native mac version or even ipad comes into the mix. That depends on some factors, but remains part of my plans/hopes.
I don't know, if graphics hardware would automatically understand how to use two cards for their operations, but Verve doesn't consciously take advantage of that...or, eh...rather I don't know how to even approach that.

Cdrop wrote:Figured since I was here I'd add in Nvidia Gforce GTX 970 here can go up to 5100~ish x 3000~ish before black screen
Made a brush that was 1,500~ish big and painted the entire canvas with no lag or slow down.

Other system info.
i7-2600k
16GB RAM

update:
Fluid was set to 96 also.

That sounds really good! My Titan GTX is not obvious better than that. I don't know but I guess verve won't take advantage of 6mb ram it has?In fact, I am a little bit below 5k x 3k but have to check when back at home. So 970 is much chaper than an even older titan I guess?

Gtx 970 4gb

Ok
Gtx 970 4gb ram?
5000x3000????? Really
Can someone ease verify this!!!!
Open , save, reopen, export,
1 layer? More layers?
This is important
Everyone wants to know whAt the limits are and what gear we need.
5000x3000 would be enough to print very large paintings
You can double res up to 10000 and it will look fine.
Would appreciate some solid info before spending bucks on a system
Thanks all!
Yeah

This card is about 450 in Canada and another 1000 to build a system around it

Re: Everyone, what Graphics Card are you using?

Gtx 970 4gb works fine with Verve in 5000*3000 (paint/save/open/reopen/export) but one layer only.
I have the famous black screen with 5k*3k and more layers.

Re: Everyone, what Graphics Card are you using?

Im on 1gb Geforce GT430 and dualcore athlon 2ghz and i didnt seen any slowdowns or problems with verve, Im not sure what minimal specs for gpu and cpu are to get fluid fluids :) works very nice on my machine especially compared to watercolor simulation in Rebelle software which is kinda slow.

Re: Video Ram for performance

Hey Taron
Looking at used gaming laptops to run Verve.
Can you please clarify.....what is most important.
I know you said video ram relates to maximum canvas size? which is important to me
but does that also relate to flui performance too?
So if I had to choose between a faster card with 3GB ram
or a bit slower card with 4GB ram
Which should I get

looking at Nvid gt750m with 4gb...benchmark 1300
or Nvid 770m with 3 gb...benchmark 2671

asap pleeeeease Im about to make a purchase......THANKS!@#$%^
