may thxs Tartan, good to hear you fell all right now
definetely this is a very important data, again thx u very much for taking the time to make this test
I have to say I had my suspicions about SLI n CROSSFIRE, I'm wondering what will be the canvas resolution limits of the AMD radeon wx 9100 (16GB) [1600$]
I did my math :hyper:
if 11GB = 5400 x 5400 px
then 16GB = 7854 x 7854 px
There is also the AMD Radeon Pro Duo (from May 2017), here its specs http://www.guru3d.com/news-story/amd-adds-new-radeon-pro-duo-with-two-polaris-10-gpus.html
and here the comparison between those AMD cards http://gpuboss.com/gpus/Radeon-Pro-Duo-Polaris-vs-Radeon-PRO-WX-9100
there are lots of specs that were mentioned before, the memory(GB), the memory bus, the texture rate, the pixel rate, the floating-point performance.
Hope some hardware techi could cast some light on these. thx advanced.

PD: on the otherhand I heard (from youtube) NVIDIA is going to release a Volta gaming card this year. do you guys have any info about that?

I wouldn’t expect it to be that easy, eduardo.
Tartan, have you saved and reopened the project?
What is once possible, is not neccessary possible zonopen again.
Layers decrease the possible resolution as well.

@Tartan
I thought about getting an i9 CPU and a complete new computer, once I got the money.
Mine has passed the magic 3 years, which is already 4 years line.
It is about to go for retirement, or maybe for my son’s gaming fun? But this will take some time as money is short. ;)
Thanks for the tip!

on my card
5400 x 5400 opens with a black screen (turn off high quality and brightness will appear)
you can save the project and open it
if it does not load the first time
the next should be included

the program will turn off when you want to check the size of the card!
an old error which crops the card, every time you press the button to resize it eats pixels :(

finally, the program eats pixels from 5400 ... x ..... ----> 5399 <---- .... and :(

:ud:

many thanks Pud for taking the time to make these tests.
unfortunately youtube banned the first video in my location,
it says it contains some audio from "Merlin Warp Records" that it's not allowed in my country or so. (then they ask why people use pdanet  )
but, I got the point, 5400 x 5400 seems to be the limit w the NVIDIA 1080ti.
many thanks again man.

Here are some of my test results:

With one layer of high quality multicolored doodles made with fluidity at 70%ish, 4768x3366 was the limit. Higher than that and verve just goes blah!(k) when reopening the project.
Still, that's more than 4 times the resolution of the cintiq27 !
The highest resolution with 2 layers was around 4000x2832.
Then each subsequent layer took about 350MB of memory.
Below is the results on different computers.

4000x2832 - 4 layers - test:

i7-4930k/64GBram/gtx980/win10
vram usage : 3500MB of 4096MB

2x xeon-X5650/64GBram/gtx760/2xgtx780/win7 (noSLI)
gtx 780 vram usage : 2600MB of 3072MB

threadripper-1950x/32GBram/gtx1050/2xgtx1080ti/win10 (noSLI)
gtx 1080 vram usage : 3350MB of 11264MB

Didn't notice any lags while painting on these systems.
Still puzzled as to why verve couldn't go past ~3400MB of memory usage on the 1080ti by pushing the resolution, but adding layers it was possible. With 8 layers verve used 4500MB of memory.
Also, on one system verve used the 1st gtx1080ti and on another the 2nd gtx780 (as per gpu-z). Maybe it's a threadripper thing. But on both it was clever enough not to use the graphic card connected to the monitors.

Anyway, to paint on the cintiq at that resolution will be quite enjoyable.

Thank you Taron for making this beautiful software available for free.

edit: disabling high quality helped to get to 6000x4200 with 3 layers on 1080ti

Very interesting stuff, trufo, thank you! :ob
I honestly just rely on openGL to do what it does. I do some daring things with framebuffers, no doubt, but outside of that, things such as memory management on the cards, it's all just GL. ...glad to hear it does a decent job! :D

hi people, pls if somebody has tested the shining new NVIDIA 2080ti (14GB)??? please could you post tests of maximum verve canvas resolution
what do you think about this new NVIDIA card vs the soon available AMD dual Vega 16GB?? I mean HBM2 vs DDR6 Vram if I'm not wrong.
If someone has an AMD Vega card would be very appreciated if you could post the test results here.

thanks advanced.

Can you taste it, too, already? How in but a few years we will laugh about the limitations we're lamenting about now! :hihi:
Anyway, NVidia is my speed... love'em. If I had the dough, I'd get that one for sure!
