Re: EB Verve Painter

So that's it,
then I'm some sort of alien, some sort of terrorist I guess

but digital ways are changing (I guess not due to concept art requiriments) but it's changing definitely
there are some new packages that are investing in cfds, guess we all know them.

and even mounsters like Adobe n Nvidia have coupled to bring this kind of fluid's sim up
I don't know what market they are specting to reach though, but digital painting is changing.

Taron I always have had a fear since I started verving, is that someday some big mounster buys Verve and then discontinue it savagely.
It has happened many times, I used to be a very fast 3d modeler using XSI (Softimage) I've had used 3dMax n Maya before but choosed XSI,
but then Autodesk (read it as Fdesk) bought it with shinning promises, and I new back then that my 3d days were over, they continue it for just few years then they just kill it.
XSI was a really beautiful n powerful software, and all the effort, all the research-programming men hours gone forever to oblivion. I call that a crime.
They meant to kill the competition from the start. Hope someday humans could evolve beyond that nonsense profitable crap, but everyday I doubt it more.

I don't know exactly what happened with Sculptris never had the opportunity to know it, but hope pixologic keep it available forever, and hope nothing similar happen to Verve ever.

Re: EB Verve Painter

Yeah, I don't think Verve is in any danger. Somehow I manage to fly under the radar, it seems, or simply haven't yet broken out enough to seem like a considerable "threat" to Adobe or the likes. My chief and only concern is to make a wonderful little tool that tickles artists to create in a different way, hopefully more intuitive, but mostly with a lot of joy.
I don't want to take anything away from anyone, but only give something more instead.

Sculptris was absorbed by Pixologic, no doubt. Even as they still offer it, I believe, it has really been taking off the picture. They wisely knew that it had the potential to take away a considerable chunk of the market. Even I prefer doodling in it over using Zbrush for such purposes. But, again, before Sculptris could be taken seriously by any professional production, it was snatched and tanked.

Not for anything that wouldn't get me set for life!
"Dr.Pepper" .... drpetter is his nick from "Petterson". Shhhh, not a doctor! ;)
And he was a little bit naive back then, but it was also important for his personal development. And I'm saying "personal" deliberately for all those, who understand. 8-)

 Dr. PeTTer
no I don't understand that about personal development.
I always wondered if sole development had something to do with coders not trusting other coders, I don't know.
I've read on google that programming is close to art since they both has several similarities.

PD: "sometimes I remove the dust from my old XSI carcass, they let his body to rotten, but inside it still shines"

Re: EB Verve Painter

Well, it's a kind of political science business. The "person" is not the human. The person is the official business entity associated with the human. Thus, for drpetter to have entered the business world with this experience, kickstarted his personal development. This is stuff you won't get taught at school, I'm afraid...hardly anybody does.

Anyway, XSI, man, you fill my head with all these memories. Softimage was never my thing, though, at some point I felt like it could've been. I just loved the "low tech", approachable kind of apps that anybody could afford at the time....namely Lightwave. And I stuck with it until we began to develop project:messiah (still hate the name).
HEY, you're cluttering up your own gallery thread, hehehe... ;) ...anyway, yes, coding is art, too. I can feel very similar processes within me as I program. And the sense of creation is virtually identical. The same really goes for music as well. It's all closely related as creative disciplines.

Re: EB Verve Painter

As concerns to art and coding.. I think where is a room for creativity there is a potential to be art and it doesn´t matter which work you do, coding, painting, gardening, talking, dancing, driving, walking.. Monty Python's Ministry of Silly Walks I deliberately used inproper use of the youtube link to not clutter your nice thread so much.. ;)
It always depends on effort and talent of the people. Coding is very creative process and I like it, but sometimes it is very frustrating job, I mean wasted days solving some issue.. But from an other side view, what is waste.. it is just a way which isn´t correct and can show the right way, isn´t it? :-)
