Re: Taron's little gallery

It's time again that I at least post some doodles of mine, just so you know that I'm still doing it and I'm still loving it. I have been focusing on music for a while and may still continue to do so for a bit longer, but I can feel my Verve urges surge through me all the time, but increasingly so lately. c:!

Here are just a few random doodles...
A hue-dancer experiment...

just a wild doodle, also using hue-dancer...

Guess what I've used here?! Though, this one was cheeky. I first just painted the hand like experiment without hue-dancer, but then I added two layers, one multiply, the other additive, and then used hue-dancer to just make strokes along the flow of the painting as I saw it...

All those are really just brief relaxation doodles. I have a ton of these, but I just recently backed the up... they quickly get heavy for my main drive! :geek:
Anyway...I'm here! 8-)

OH, I've just made this one right now for one of my OSC songs "Sparkly Rainbowjuice Pipeline"

Thanks, Zero! They all showcase spontaneity more than anything else, but that is a wonderful power of Verve. I mean, I love getting in there and work with great care and thought, but just as much I love letting go and just have at it! c:! :D

Re: Taron's little gallery

Thanks guys! Yeah, I'm glad I posted something again... I miss posting, too. Sometimes, though, I rather want you guys to show new stuff, rather than drowning you all with mine.

Slightly hue dancing is something I always forget.

Thanks, Doz & Knacki!
Yeah, hue-dancer gets pretty addictive for sure. It's such a simple way to give life into any color. I can't wait to get totally into the mode again to take Verve again to the next level! It's coming closer for sure! 8-)

Re: Taron's little gallery

Here's a fun method to enjoy happy doodling:
  • though canvas texture isn't important, I prefer the old one for this... hit [ctrl]+[p] twice to get to it!
  • fluidity doesn't have to be high for most of this, it's not the point of this technique either... I had it on about 20% for most of the time. Only for some extra fun swirling I put it on high and warped around happily.
...here comes the real point:
  • using brush#9, put the Hue dial of it up, even 100% is fun, but could be less. Use as many or as few bristles as you like, but it should best be above 30%.
  • bring up the color swatches [shift]+[c] and for convenience the color wheel [c]. Now make a series of gradients to your liking. One in cold tones, then make a new set (little round buttons on top), one in warm tones, one in whites.
  • you could dial up the hue-dancer, too, but it won't do much, yet.
  • now pick which gradient you want to use and hold [n] while painting. Then you can switch to the next gradient and do the same and so on...
  • I like to reduce the mouse speed to about 30% or less for that. It makes very soft strokes then.
  • you can have pressure on opacity on, but also without it on you can use the alpha amount to control how opaque your strokes get.

It's such a relaxing technique and instantly looks fascinating to me.
The attached example is a bit of a "compositing", using 3 layers, while the top layer is just there twice. Once with reduced blending, the other with reduced opacity. The bottom layer is some random watercolor looking doodle.
