Re: With verve into the light

Hahaha, taron - my biggest was also a company a friend of mine was working for.
But that were around 10 or something.
I think the picture is still existing and hanging in the company ;)

Something different:

I made a preset for future caricatures etc. (charcoal?...well, you know what I mean ;) )
I really love this style:

You can download the file from pic above here (2000px x 3000px 76 MB)

https://drive.google.com/open?id=1Ud9jM_z14SqN_qOsrIuozudRgKUtuRvs

or a layer reduced file here (72MB) :

https://drive.google.com/open?id=1eb05IUrhe3m2qLzarLn-RLHOdrYeRUJL

Layer use in last file as following:
-Top layer for white lines / I would recommand to separate colors in layers. This way you won't get in trouble with any alpha issues. Very easy to add and erase.
-second layer for hard lines.
-third layer for fill lines / as I am lazy, I like to use brush #9 with a few bristles and size (w) off for hatching multiples strokes at one time.
-fourth layer is the Paper texture with png alpha done in PS for canvas structure. Basically, you could delete this layer with SHIFT+F9. It's invisible and just in case the structure is not available, activate this layer and : [Ctrl]+[Shift]+[p] to snapshot current layer's material as canvas texture
-Lowest layer is the background paper texture from texturemate
http://www.texturemate.com/Textures/paper_Free_Texture_135

Press SHIFT+C to bring up the three used colors. The mid brown color on opacity ~70% should be the main working color.

Reference for exact this style was this brilliant picture (due to brown paper texture, it went a bit off, if you turn off background layer, colors will be a bit closer.):
https://www.deviantart.com/thestonedstone/art/Jaruzelski-554868776
Plenty of examples:
https://www.google.com/search?q=drawing+paper+brown&client=firefox-b&tbm=isch&source=lnt&tbs=isz:l&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjMvv-73PTbAhWDLlAKHZd-CC0QpwUIHg&biw=1920&bih=1083&dpr=1

Before starting, clear the layers properly by pressing DEL several times, or create a new layer.
Change painting mode to = instead of >. No material needed. In my opinion.
I am really looking forward to see your results ;)

I hope I'll find time to use this preset as well soon.

Have fun!

Re: With verve into the light

Thank you Knacki, very useful! I like that charcoal preset with the paper background. I definitely have to spare some time to paint something. Caricatures are higher level but I will try.. :-)

:D
No need to do caricatures, Lemi.
You can do so much more.
Albrecht Dürers praying hands is just one example, and with existing color tools also no problem to do ;)

Well, I wish I would have these skills

Just a very quick 25min test.

And a 100% crop to see how the strokes reacts exactly to paper structure ;)

Re: With verve into the light

great fish the last one, n the one before it, congrats.
cool caricatures too,
impressive charcoal sets, thanks for sharing.
have you found a way to emule tilt drawing? u know the effect u get when u tilt the pencil/chalk when drawing.
thanks advanced.
EDIT: I opened those files, they were at my canvas res limit or perhaps the layer count, Verve took a while to open them n speed its a bit slow, but it is an amazing tool preset Knacki, I can't wait to check it out more in depth, also that canvas texture looks like a Fabriano paper xD, though I would suggest putting the white n sepia charcoal in the same layer, since sometimes white charcoal can be lightly blended w the sepia tones, to get more color variations.

WOW, great result, Knacki! Looks like Albert Einstein eye. Very vivid and artistic! c:!

But what? At now I noticed that the eye is mirrored! Even more artistic! :ud: :)

Re: With verve into the light

Wow, what a great response, thanks guys!

@taron - thanks for that wonderful tool ;)

@ Eduardo
"have you found a way to emule tilt drawing? u know the effect u get when u tilt the pencil/chalk when drawing."
No, I haven't tried so far and have no idea actually to get this tilt emulated one to one.
What I do is switching size (w) off. The less bristles, the more it looks like hatching.

" I opened those files, they were at my canvas res limit or perhaps the layer count,"
You can delete the invisible layer, as it is just the paper texture with alpha to get material for the canvas (how lovely it would be to use greyscale bump for it ;) )
Sure, you can put everything on one layer. In my experience, you'll soon get in trouble with the alpha problem in verve, as discussed here:
http://www.taron.de/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=2588
Else, I really enjoy to have fine strokes, hatches and white isolated. So much easier to work, and much more easier to correct.

@ Lemi
Unbelievable! In fact I used a picture of Albert Einstein as reference. makes me super happy that you recognized it.
Mirrored? I don't understand :) Did I do something special? :D

@Pilou
"Can you say that use Verve for you is the more pleasant 2D Drawing / Painting tool ?"
Before verve, I made probably 10 digital paintings in my whole life...no need to say more ;)
