Re: EXTERMINATE, EXTERMINATE!

:) :!:

Re: EXTERMINATE, EXTERMINATE!

Ahahahaha, that is an old flaw of Verve, I kept repairing that various times. It should NOT happen, thus the new version is a bit more "correct". You may still be able to provoke it, though, but I'm not sure exactly how. It should, however, not be possible!
I could make it a feature for you, though, hehehehe! ;)

Re: EXTERMINATE, EXTERMINATE!

selective mix ...

Re: EXTERMINATE, EXTERMINATE!

Yeah, thank you Taron for ... clariiiiiiifying? .. i guess? :?
Image
Honestly though, this is amazing! :D

Image

... It does seem more like a bug than a feature though  when you freeze a canvas like this, save and reopen, the effect is gone ... but if you then touch that Drying Speed knob again, it's back :o
i can see something like this work very, VERY well, evetually, though :D

Hey, i am much in love with your charming new video, once again btw :D
And i sure feel very honored to be mentioned ... Thank you very much, dude :D
Image

So happy to hear that you are working on the "Brush System"
i feel torn now for i would love to share some of my vision about it ... It felt strange before because i am sure that you have something specific in mind already and now after Borhani's nice post it feels even worsed
Though, so far i really love everything the community brings to the table and its probably easyer to do some things right away than to try to cramp them into it after my inescapable naging

So, when i think about it ... i see brush options basically in three different categorys ...

1st, some options that can be set to either influence individual bristles or the whole brush.
For instance, random hue and such would have a totally different result when set to one or the other.
(3D Coat offers the option to do these things per stroke or per spacing for instance ... bristles do seem to offer an even more in depth influence though)
Pressure based scale as well ... as we talked about for the sponge effet
Image
Auto pick is another i would put in this category?

2nd, Bristle options ... These should come with a random "jitter amount" slider of some sort?
Roundness - Roundness Jitter (bristle shape round to flake)
Size - Size Jitter
Count - Count Jitter
Spacing - Spacing jitter (how many bristles are born per sec.)
Duration - Duration Jitter (By duration i mean a fade between Brush #2 and #3 i.e. for how long a Bristle exists to apply paint (particle lifespan) ... that i picture AMAZING with a jitter? :o )

3rd, Brush Bias
Sharpness, Buildup and Color deserve a Bias like we have for location now i think?
A color bias i see most important i.e. to dip the brush tip into different colors ... i pictured now a bullseye that you can paint in and the brush or bristles pick from it before they are born.
Would be nice to give randomly shaped bristles a coloring like this ... a gradient from top to bottom, bright green dark green black already would spray nice shaded foliage without any extra effort?

Anyway, you probably already have things in mind for all of these though? ... just thought i give my 5 cents while youre at it :D

Re: EXTERMINATE, EXTERMINATE!

And there I thought you were going to hold back!?
I'm not going to read this right now, though, jim, because my system's main focus is not on those parameter elements, which are relevant later on, but about a logic that will most likely truly blow your mind, hehehehe....
You're still thinking in "photoshop" ways...or conventionally, so to say. I'm thinking in terms of contemplating pseudo physics of something that approaches reality; paint sucked in between bristles, the consistency of the paint alters the behavior of the bristles, how they are stuck together or not, how they behave when the whole thing touches the canvas, how the paint leaves the bristles and the bristles themselves scrape the paint and pick up paint of the canvas that would be lose or liquid enough to be taken.... and so on.
From their on, once this all works (Yalalalalllaaaahhh <cRazzzyY>) it's only a matter of time that I will gain consciousness again and THEN it's all about designing brushes, configuring bristles, interpreting pen behaviors (all the tilts and pressure).... and THHHEEEENNNN much, MUCH, much later, right away, it will be about the fun stuff like funny movement designs and shapes of bristles on a brush...why not design brushes with dancing bristles.... why "bristles"? Why not lumps that explode or swirl around a stick on which you tethered them with little pieces of yarn... why not a sponge? Why not teeth on a stick? :? ...eh, I think I've far exceeded my point already, hahahaha. Point is, I want Verve to be a vehicle for true improvement, a next generation of paint app. Not another cookie-cutter photoshop improvement, like practically all others in one way or another. I think, maybe Artrage kind of went into a different direction, but other than that...ah who cares, they're all stuck in the same kind of paradigm and I'd like to break free from that. Dare a little. :D  ...hey, it's my nerves at stake, hehehe, I offer them willingly!

But, cool, thanks for your thoughts, as per usual. I had to mention you in the video, because I am thrilled about our interaction here and what you and the others are making me do. Some of the stuff can absolutely be "conventional", because that's about general input stuff...such as canvas rotation and...eh...ah..widgets and so on. Spinning, though, hahahaha  ...it is great fun, though! :D

So, yeah, it's kind of ok to expect some wild stuff to come! ;)

Re: EXTERMINATE, EXTERMINATE!

That, ... sounds, ... incredible! :o Teeth on a stick  ... okay, ... i must admit that i didn't think within this range, at all
Alright already, i'll step back and let you do what you do best, then ... amaze  :D

Uhm ... EXTERMINATE though, ... picking is buggy in the latest build? :?
Draw two strokes with a hard color contrast -> Smudge the seam with one action -> Undo -> Pick now acts like there was no undo i.e. you pick from a smudged stage even though you undoed back to the sharp seam.

Re: EXTERMINATE, EXTERMINATE!

I wonder, if I should bring order to the whole bug reporting to add a "Resolved" tag or so, when it's gone or long gone like this one. :P
I just noticed that I somehow never replied?! Weird...

Re: EXTERMINATE, EXTERMINATE!

i just noticed that i somehow never thanked you for it, either  ... So, THANK YOU! ... Nice fix :D

With you, bugs usually only last a few minutes anyway  ...Don't have the feeling that this needs a new thread ... Though, i do sometimes pine for a more detailed update list

i do see many recurring FAQ's about which you replied in great detail already though, like PSD import, undos, Mac/Linux and so on.
An FAQ/Roadmap thread could be of use, rather?

Re: EXTERMINATE, EXTERMINATE!

Yeah, thought about it already. It would be yet another thing to maintain, though... ...and I don't think it'll keep people from asking the same questions! :P
