Taron wrote:It sure is a shader problem, but the flaw is mine, of course, or ATi's weird strictness. I've tested them as well as I could and found no problems. I can't tell, yet. But it goes deep. Seems like it should work. The Radeon 6800 series appears to have no troubles from the reports. No idea... latest drivers?

Yes, I'm running driver 13.251. This AMD page offers a beta driver from last month, but I don't think I want to use a beta driver to run this prototypical software...!

Re: Bug Reports

Ehehehe, Yeah, I'd be worried, too! Well...not sure what the deal is. I also haven't seen how it runs on the other ATi cards, but just got the positive feedback. Might be cool, if everyone was posting a snapshot of his interface to see, if it's alright!? :|

Re: Bug Reports

Welp, whatever you changed in 99o fixed it, so thanks! #8 now works fine like the rest.

Re: Bug Reports

Now I've figured out what causes the weird random splotches in random parts of the image at random times. Turns out it's not random at all, but based on having the drying speed above 50%, and appearing in FIFO order in which you painted (most recent/topmost paint at any given pixel, and especially on the thicker quantities of paint):

Higher drying speed makes it happen faster. I'm not sure what exactly is going on, but it seems to preserve the Hue/saturation etc, simply replacing the paint height data with apparently random noise. Blending the splotches with surrounding paint confirms this and suggests the splotches average out at or around 0/default height, or at least much lower than their surroundings. Maybe it's some kind of paint drying calculations math error when the drying speed is above 50%?

That's amazing. It's funny what openGL incompatibilities can cause! ... hmmm, could have a creative use of sorts?! :D
Well, I keep reworking everything, hoping to one day have an ultimate GL solution. I've just managed to make my fluids work on the Cintiq Companion, having to rework a lot of them and now I'm a bit shocked...because it's not only countless times faster, but "more correct", too.
So, yeah...soon there will be a major update to Verve. ;)
Thanks for recording these, hehehe... you should record making a nice picture with it, too, though! :?

Re: Bug Reports

Through further experimentation: the decay still happens (very slowly) as low as 22%; it does not at 20% (at least not over the course of an hour).

That's good to hear about the fluid improvements though, I'm looking forward to it!
