Bug Reports

:!: If the software doesn't run on your machine, you don't have to write anything here, because most likely your machine's graphics card doesn't meet the minimum requirements. :!:

If you can run Verve and already have some fun with it, but run into any bugs, write it down here, please!
Naturally, you should try to be as specific as you can be about the circumstances. :ugeek:

The only real bug I ever ran into is with the layers, where some esoteric maneuver can cause it to crash. I can't quite replicate the problem on command, it's so hard to encounter that crash, but let me know, if that ever happens to you! :o
Here to help! :D

Re: Bug Reports

Seems to be a bug: when I paint, then switch colour, and paint again, everything i painted before gets sort of darkened/recoloured. Video and system specs here:

Re: Bug Reports

Oh wow, what graphics board do you have?
Oh no, that is a Shader issue. I've seen that before very early on. OpenGL is such a beast, really...
Let's figure this out!
Make sure you're using your latest graphics board drivers, too, please!

And, omg, THANK YOU for sharing and even with a video!!! You so totally rock! 8-)

Re: Bug Reports

Hmmm, I did just notice that your machine may not be entirely compatible to the system requirements for Verve. The interface does not display correctly, which tells me that there is a fundamental openGL Shader problem with your hardware. I'm still surprised it works at all on your system, actually. Anyway, I'm not giving up just yet. Maybe we can figure something out. :|

AND I just noticed the system info you gave in the youtube clip. This is quite Weird. ATi and Nvidia seem to work fine normally. I'm not sure what the deal is here.

Re: Bug Reports

First of all, great to become aware of yet another one your amazing projects today Taron.
You don't just lay golden eggs, you share them. You are a triple rare bird. :-D
Your recent demo made me think of playing with my tomato soup and some milk as a kid, hehe. Well, and more.

Anyway, with Verve Painter v0.99e there appear to be less preset resolutions?
I still seem to be able to pick from 1280x720, 1024x768, 512x512 and 800x600.

In either case, for me at least, the 1024x768 preset --my native resolution-- seems to have a lil offset problem(?)... Resulting in a trippy effect that makes the freshly applied paint slide down. :-P (and while using this preset there appears this black horizontal border at the top of the canvas.)
I made some assumption that this might have something to do with the win7 taskbar. And then fiddled with that. Hiding it, putting it in other locations... but that didn't seem to have any effect.

The other, smaller, resolution presets all seem to work fine for me. Nvidia Geforce 460, i7 quadcore, 4GB.
I am not sure if this has been covered already... but expected it to be in this thread, if anywhere.
So please let me know if/how I can be any more clear in reporting on this. Or perhaps if there is a known solution.

Anyway, suppose I'll just have to play in 800x600 for now. :P
Happy to be on board and thanks some more.

Re: Bug Reports

HEYA, welcome, tama, and THANKS for the great first post! :D

You may still be right about the windows taskbar, because Blitzmax default window creation might be aware of it, when it creates a new window. Maybe I can figure out how to prevent that from happening, but in reality I should pull myself together and work out a proper fullscreen solution instead. It's been bugging me from early on and I have to get on top of it. or rather  or much rather

Anyway, it's beeping on my radar now for sure!

By the way, if your desktop resolution is 1024x768 I'm kind of confused, that it goes up to 1280x720?! I meant to prevent that from happening, actually, because currently the canvas size is locked to the window size. Another one of those reasons for the above desire to finally free myself from that.

Re: Bug Reports

Heys Taron, thanks.

Also(!) just after writing the report I was kinda trying to enjoy how the paint kept sliding down.. And then I found that using the blending (Ctrl + Shift + dragging left mouse around) made the sliding stop and the dark top border disappear!
Basically that seemed to have fixed it.
So yeh, just enjoying myself I found a workaround, hehehe.

Well yes, when I open the program the initial preset indeed seems to be 1280x720. And with that comes a messed up layout.. where part of the buttons/icons are outside the window frame. But at least the paint doesn't start sliding away. And well then I just pick the next preset. And fix it with my new found method. :D

Re: Bug Reports

The next update will have 800x600 as start-up resolution, that should generally be just small enough, I think. I'll have to start adding menu options, presets and the likes.
There are still some rather curious things happening, which kind of escape me, I think I'll have to clean house a little.

Thanks for keeping at it! Can't wait to see your first doodle in the Gallery! :D

Re: Bug Reports

PNG seems to have a problem there. I exported same image and in PNG some bright artifacts appeared. JPG exported just fine:

Re: Bug Reports

Interesting! That's definitely a negative alpha. The image is actually "not broken", just some weirdness with the alpha. I hope you've saved the project, too?! Looks COOL!!! 8-)
