Whats your workflow with verve?

hello, whats you workflow in Verve?

Did you use only Verve? Or did you draw first your Ideas on paper or with other programs? Or did you draw and paint only Verve? Or did you use also some 3D constructions, photos? :)

For my self, I did buyed last days some FABER CASTEL PENCILS, CLUTCH PENCILS are the best in my opinion, I don't like the leads, that kind of leads from the drop-action pencils  .. so I will do draw also on paper too and after that I will scan and finish in VERVE. Mischief is also good :) for a Line Art. ;)

Re: Whats your workflow with verve?

Hey Zero, that's totally NOT "off topic", but rather a perfect topic for the Community threads! :ob

My workflow always starts and almost always ends in Verve, haha! :P
But I'm curious about how you all work with Verve as it is now, too! :geek:
Here to help! :D

Re: Whats your workflow with verve?

All of them pure verve first except one started in mischief.
Some post processing in photoshop.
Only once loaded a picture into verve and painted over for a quick detail (bird at cliffs) and used another one for color palette once.(cliffs)

But sketching in real life feels often better. Even with a cintiq it's simply different and more difficult to me. But it's getting easier every day ;)

Re: Whats your workflow with verve?

Cintiq is nice to have, but too expensive for mea and I think also for 80-90% of al other verve-people :) but better line control you will get on a computer or with a kind of vector-pentool and maybe also with a good wrap control :ob - This would be great in MISCHIEF or even in VERVE - is see that Verve is good for wraping lines too. c:! But I real miss a pentool in booth cool programs

About Cintiq:
I bought mine used. You just need passion in watching ebay ;)
Saw a cintiq 21ux sold for less than 500. But it is not the holy grail as a lot are thinking. I made a lot of good pics on a small Intuos. So many artists are better drawing than me on intuos.

About Pentool
You mean this bezier thing?
I don't even use it in flash.
Flash, the good times when it was own by macromedia and Adobe wasn't destroying it step by step, has the most intuitive way of line drawing and correction. And it's billion times faster than fiddeling with anchor points. Sure, this is my very personal opinion. But I searched for a good vector drawing program for ages. One that produce just a stroke, not a filled area. Flash MX 2004 is still best on earth. Specially for vector animation. Instead of an anchor point, you just, with your drawing tool active, press STRG. and you can correct those anchor point without even to care where they are. Like verve blending. I always want to blend like in verve with just pressing one button. Coool. Erase? Just another button. No, no! Don't hurry. Keep your active tool, just press an extra button and it's done!
That's makes verve so addictive for me. Not the canvas only is fluid,no! The major workflow is a fluid simmulation ;)
This bezier thing is imho a dinosaur belonging to an old age of drawing and masking. It's nice to have as a BackUp. Nothing more to me.
Only in 3D space it really makes sense.

My personal opinion after drawing with vectors for over 20 years.

But finally, what is the use of that in verve? A line, circ, square tool makes sense for sure. The rest? Lazy Nezimi is filling the gap for accurate linework.

Lazy Nezumi is good yes, also for mischief, but if you like, you could watch some video-demonstrations about the astute plugins, they are very stunning but running only in illustrator and expensive too :) https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=astute+vector but with the astute plugins you will get very fine vector control and more :)

Re: Whats your workflow with verve?

OK. I am serious off topic. But watching this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O2pyTJMKI-w (I hab just time to see how long he needed for the eyes, made me nervous)
You'll be much faster in flash. Promised.
Try it if you have the chance.

Anyway, vector I guess, it's not on verve highest priority?
Fluid vector....how cool would that be? :D

Regarding workflow - switching between programs to do what they can do best in each prog. is what I often do.
But with verve I try to stay in verve.
Maybe I am lazy, but maybe there is no other tool on earth offering me this satisfying verve look in the easy of some few strokes?
I use verve mainly as a painting program, or to generate abstracts.
Precise linework, there are better tools as soon as mouse speed and even Lazy Nezumi failing.
But I also had to experience that some artists really have a build in LN. ;)
They draw perfect smooth lines without smoothing.
I had to realize that it is also a question of my own abilities.

This video I can't watch now (DSL 384 macht mich krank) ... but thnks ...

And the way for smooth lines is to made them first very fast / dynamic and details / slower lines after this. So you can watch this video and there are a lot some cool videos too .. I think his videos also good for non-photoshoppers ...
