Re: Lord Insectord gives suggestions

PS: And that's a really, really sad motive, too! But nicely executed! ;)
OH, and I think you may have picked a color through a new layer, which didn't get initialized... that's a nice reminder, I keep forgetting that!
On the color wheel, just pick a brightness level first, then you should have everything working again there, too. But you need to do the transparent fill first, don't forget!

Oh, hold up... no, you don't need to fill at all, it's just that the color you had picked was the problem! :P ....me stupid!
So, yeah, nothing to fix for you there right now, it'll work just fine if you do the colorwheel as I described above (first brightness level and all is well again).

I'll fix the picking issue with the next update!

I see "C" now toggles the color widget, which is ok, but it would be nice to add extra behaiour: hold for more than 1 second, then release, then it goes away.

Yeah! I think it is a great touch for people who want to keep it on the canvas, but I personally find it distracting.

Re: Lord Insectord gives suggestions

LOL, yeah, no shit. ...but funny! It was more or less a joke, half way to the realization of what I wanted to make. Next version will be a bit more serious, BUT NOT too much! :D
I still like your idea, but it's a trickier one than you might think. There will also be a shift+c combination and it clashes a bit with fancy key stroke analysis.

Hmmm, I just realized, I could simply make the exact same logic for all widgets. Hold it down and it comes and goes with your keydown/keyup motion. Hit it and it toggles. Yep, maybe that's a good idea.

Re: Lord Insectord gives suggestions

Perfect! I was gonna suggest to make it dissapear and you just did! (great minds...™ :D )
Instead of the bouncing+fade, I would try just to make it dissapear as the cursor gets close to it (32px maybe?) and when the cursor goes away another 32px, make it appear again.
Same could be for the GUI btw if user goes painting behind it.

As for the color dropp.. not sure what's its name, I would increase the area a little bit (attached), so it is easier to see and manipulate.

Re: Lord Insectord gives suggestions

Yep, I agree on the area for sure, because accidents can really happen right now.
But I do like the bounce, hehehe. The fade can actually be just as annoying, if it stays in place. I did it like that first, not surprisingly also with a distance to the cursor, of course, but it's really more unpleasant, I'm sure. Also, you can fling the wheel to another place, which is kind of cool. Your cursor won't have to move far to just fling the thing away. I have to do some real painting with Verve again to fully get a feel for everything, but yeah... this kinda stuff is a bit toyish right now, but I don't mind some fun, if it actually feels right eventually. Gimme a moment to experience it myself! ;)

Two more suggestions:
- Display current resolution in the title bar.
- Bristle Size and "Density" can be integrated like Bias, f.e.:
Ctrl+Drag = Size
Shift+Drag = Density

Re: Lord Insectord gives suggestions

Is it (or will be) possible in tile mode to extend the stroke outside so we can paint seamlessly?
