Re: Vervette Fluid Sandbox...

Curious little sidestep, but this feels interesting. As I'm exploring simple drawing, I stumble across curious looks of totally dry paint and pencil and so on... really neat.

Still experimenting with conventional painting concepts (kind of conventional): FLOW vs. OPACITY
Don't get scared, when you see those dials! They are just for me right now... will get a different implementation with proper icons and ways to customize what one wants to see/modify while painting.

Re: Vervette Fluid Sandbox...

Ok, now this will mean nothing to any of you, but to me this means: SUCCESS!!! :bounce:

I've finally arrived at a proper blending/mixing method to handle layers with build-up. I can't believe what a difficult birth that has been. It's been so difficult, that I still am only cautiously excited, but I finally feel like having some control again. IF this all is as correct as I believe it is and as it seems, then it is already conceptually superior to what Verve has ever been. BUT there's still much to confirm and develop. I'm still thrilled! :hyper:

Thanks, Lemi! :D ...it will hopefully show very soon even more clearly. 8-)
Pilou, yes, layers are indispensable. Not necessarily for me, because I do love the process of working consciously on a single layer, but few people are like me in that regard, I'm afraid. ...it is cool to have layers, though. Just too easy to get carried away and forget fundamentals of painting.

Re: Vervette Fluid Sandbox...

Not quite my style of working, but one can get into that, too. This is only with an ordinary paint brush and color picking (and no undo). No smudge or anything. It's almost photoshop style, in a way, if it wasn't for the procedural brush patterns and, well, the lighting, haha.
(besides, the numbering is genuine... this is literally the 43rd snapshot already)

I understand you. That is why I have used Verve, because my first acrylic paintings were not so good and I try to learn/practise fundamentals of painting with Verve. After I found layers I used them a lot and that approach was far away from painting on paper.
For "classic" digital painting I think it is dispensable, mainly when your functions imitate the reality as much as possible. But nobody is pushed to use more layers. For abstracts and more digital things more layers are indispensable and they increase the value of your sw for more people.
