Tablet pen nibs.

Hey Taron or anyone else on here with a Wacom tablet have you tried the painting nib that has the springs in it? Is it any good or just extremely gimmiky? If any program could benefit I think it could be this one but I don't own a tablet that came with one and wasn't quite curious enough to shell out the money to buy some and have them shipped.

Re: Tablet pen nibs.

One of those came with my Intuos3 and I liked it a lot for a while. Now it's just used up, unfortunately and I'm back on the normal ones. However, check your wacom tablet properties to tune your settings. I've just yesterday done that and it did wonders for me, particularly the click threshold! I went all the way down to 0 with it and it really feels pretty good now!

How is the art pen? Do you use it? I feel like the rotation would be very useful if it works well.

Re: Tablet pen nibs.

I feel the same, but I don't have one. :(
That would make a proper investment, of course, because I could literally expand functionality with it, but blindly it wouldn't be very elegant.
Thanks for bringing it up, though.

Re: Tablet pen nibs.

Can I use an ARTPEN also on my GRAPHIRE4 A5? Because I like my old tablet :ob and why changing? Some of the new tablets have some quality-problems e.g. the "Intuos 5"
EDIT:
okay, intuos pens are not compatible with graphire/bamboo  but I will keep my graphire4 c:!

Re: Tablet pen nibs.

I doubt it very much, Zero, because the graphire most certainly won't support tilt or anything beyond pressure.

Re: Tablet pen nibs.

I have used that nib with the spring and it's great. If you need that bit of give when you press downwards it's a great nib accessory. It's really your preference. I have an amazing artist friend who prefers the felt nibs that doesn't last long. She likes the tooth and resistance to the surface. As I keep on waiting for a wacom tablet/cintiq to cave in and buy, I have stuck with my trusty Intuos 3. And I just use the typical plastic nib because it lasts the longest. I easily adjust to the wacom pen since the softwares I use can be adjusted to get any range.

I only get picky for real life medium. Though I used to just draw with just a mechanical pencil with 2b lead.

Yeah, I was really sad, when my spring nib was worn down. Now I have exactly the same setup as you, but I'm still rather happy! :) ...funny is, too, that 2b pencils were my favorites as well. :o :D
