I just wanted to share that I used Taron's Verve Painter in my Ludum Dare 30 game entry. I'm not a great artist, but I was able to make some interesting backgrounds in a short period of time using Verve Painter.

I used Stencyl, which has a similar "programming" interface to Scratch using blocks that snap together. I think Stencyl licensed the technology from MIT.

I didn't use Zbrush. I made the backgrounds in Verve Painter and then saved to PNG. Then I modified those images with Gimp. I used Inkscape to create the sprites, and the animations were done with Spriter.

I'm glad you liked it! :D I'm hoping that more Ludum Dare entries start using Verve Painter. Too many people rely on pixelated graphics, which look very outdated. I discovered Verve painter after reading one of Dr. Petter's Twitter posts. I really appreciate you providing such a great art tool to the community!
