painting tileable textures difficult BC unremoveable light

I have found great interest in Verve and especially its function to make tileable textures (F4), but it seems like the program always has a light positioned on the top middle of the canvas, like this: http://www.pasteall.org/pic/show.php?id=78849

I have tried changing pretty much all settings on all layers and I just can't find a way to remove this light effect.

I was trying to use Verve exclusively to make textures for this WIP 3D project (http://www.pasteall.org/pic/show.php?id=78851), but had to go back to photoshop because I just can't make tileable textures because of this effect.
The light is always overlayed on top of the top layer, even when saving the separate layers it is overlayed over the save. Turning layer gloss, normal and diffuse off doesn't fix it.

Thanks for this inspiring piece of software, looking forward to new Taron videos - they're so nice :)

For now, try this:
Turn the color to black, then hit [L], which will set the light color to black, effectively turning it off.
Turn the color to white, then hit [shift]+[L], which will set the ambient to white, basically creating a flat white lighting.

Steep bumps will still show up, but you can just turn the bump down, if that bothers you. The canvas texture, if it shows, has independent strength, so you may want to turn it off or the strength down.

Eventually I'll hook up a lighting interface, which will allow you to toggle lighting on/off, too.
UH, I'll make a new video VERY soon, if not tonight already, hehe! Thanks for the encouragement! :D
And: WELCOME TO THE FORUM!

The method works perfectly, thanks!

I looked through the manual again and I see that I missed the part about the light :PP
I must say, there are a lot of hotkeys. maybe a global settings drop-down menu for the application would be nice :) The learning curve is pretty steep right now

Waha...it only gets worse right now, haha, but I'm also working on getting a proper interface in it. Things will get a lot nicer and easier then for sure!
Thanks for hanging in there! Hopefully you decide to share some of your experiments?! :)

I can post my textures when I finish the project :) The BlenderArtists forum WIP thread can be found here: http://blenderartists.org/forum/showthread.php?351946-Nostalgia-Castle
