Photoshop Proof Setup always wrong

Hi there,
I have a prob that drives me mad on my laptop.
Everytime I open a image the image looks pale, desaturated.
I have to go to VIEW - PROOF SETUP and switch to something else than MONITOR RGB and than back!! to MONITOR RGB and it's fine again.
What's this?
On CS5 and on CS6 the same.

That's how PS interprets 16bit based on your settings. It's stupid PS bogus that you need to figure out. You should try to make proper defaults. Verve gives you straight up 16bit images that are true to the values. PS just tries to be clever and interpret away from linear (monitor gamma). Let's put it like that: What I give you has all the true values with no loss. Squeeze it one way or the other and you lose the original gradient.

By the way, this is not so much OFF TOPIC, really... I think I'll move that to the community thread! ;)

Thanks for your answer taron.
I put it on OT because it's just on my laptop and with every picture I am opening there.
Not png only.
I guess I just made once one silly click. But I can't figure out where.

Found it!
IF you change the settings in VIEW - PROOF SETUP it seems to be temporary.
Under EDIT - COLOR SETTINGS I changed RGB to MONITOR RGB. That sems to do the trick.
That was on sRGB IEC-6
