Question about drawing tablet

Heya!

Small question, how important is it to have a 'tilt sensor' in your drawing tablet?
I'm looking at the Wacom Intuos Pen & Touch M, which seems like a very nice tablet, but it doesn't have tilt sensor
Then there's the pro version that does, but it's also way more expensive (The Pen & Touch M is about 170 euro's which is a good price I'd say, while the pro is much more expensive, and I'm not sure if it's worth it for a beginner like me).

Thanks!

I don't think it's "super vital" that you have tilt, but I am using it in Verve. I recommend you also look for used tablets. I'm still using my Intuos 3 pro, which is probably pretty cheap nowadays, if you find a used one and I'm still loving it! :)

Thanks! What do you use the tilt for? Does it change the bias of the brush?

A variety of things, actually, but not bias in this version. Brush #4 and #5 have their width changed, for example, but more so, if it doesn't have tilt, it most likely also won't have rotation, which is just another "tilt" factor, and that affects all brushes. The direction in which you hold the pen can control the rotation of your brush. That's a very powerful feature without which I wouldn't be happy at all. All brushes respond to that (except #1).

In the next version you will be able to design your brush and pen response in greater detail and there are additional features which will also benefit dramatically from it.

Hmmm...maybe I should say it is "vital", but if your alternative was between mouse and any pen without tilt, I'd still recommend the pen!

If it's the first time you ever use one, it will take a moment to get used to it, but then you'll get very comfortable with it, no worries! :ob

Any tips for using it with Verve? Are there some specific tips/tricks? :)

Hmmm...I dunno...make good use of Pressure Based Opacity and Size toggles. I switch them on and off frequently. Most of the time I turn off pressure on size when I smudge/blend. I often have pressure on opacity off when I start painting, especially on silhouettes, of course. So, you'll find my fingers hovering over [w] and [e] a lot, besides my little- and ring finger over [ctrl] and [shift]. It's very comfortable for me.
I do use the rotation of the pen a lot, actually.

Oh, make sure you develop a good feel and proper settings for your pressure sensitivity! You may have to go into the wacom settings for that.

hello dear taron, did we have in the next version maybe also an alternative stroke control for tablets/pens with not-supported-pen-direction-function? Because my tablet (on older wacom-graphire4) didn't have that pen-diretcion function  oops, but I like my tablet too

It's already there, I think. At least I'm pretty sure I've had it in the existing version. :?
[a] to lock rotation
[shift]+[a] to adjust the rotation (click and drag while holding those keys to adjust!)
