Two thoughts came to my mind:
1. It's a rare female alchemist, who ponders with some sadness over the fact that gold doesn't excite her that much anymore after having turned a simple glass into it.
2. It's an ex lover or partner of guy, who became an alchemist, turned his life around to dedicate himself to the craft and left her with either the golden glass as a parting gift or that's the first item he actually made out of his own gold.
